1. Set your timers for 12 minutes.
  2. Do as much of the task as you can.
  3. When the timer goes off, STOP! You're finished for today!
Sun (9/5) 52 Pick-Up
12 min - Today's task is a "52 pick-up"! Don't worry about the timer. Concentrate on things that are out of place - kids' books, paperwork, toys, laundry, etc. Count each time you put something back where it belongs, and when you get to 52, STOP! The trick to this is to put things away EXACTLY where they belong, not in a "holding area". Try to touch each item only once!
Mon (9/6) Wash Door Mats
12 min - Shake out all your door mats today and toss them in the washing machine or spray them off with a hose.
Tues (9/7) Front Entrances
12 min - Today let’s tackle our front entrances, foyers, etc. Remember, you never get a second chance to make a first impression! Do you really want a visitor’s first view of your home to be your hallway full of shoes, book bags, and yesterday’s junk mail? Spend your time today de-cluttering and tidying this area. Dust the baseboards and corners. Give it a thorough sweeping. If you have time left, take a look on the outside and shake out the welcome mat & maybe even sweep off the stoop. When the timer goes off, STOP! You’re finished for today!
Wed (9/8) Refrigerators
12 min - Open your fridge and Toss anything that’s old, crusty, or furry (LOL!). Wipe off the shelves with warm soapy water. If you notice you’re running low on something, add it to your shopping list. DON’T empty the entire fridge – just do what you can in 12 minutes. If you get finished with the inside and still have a few minutes, wipe clean the outside and top of the fridge too.
Thurs (9/9) Pamper Yourself
12 min - Today's chore is to PAMPER YOURSELF! Spend 12 minutes doing something special for yourself.. Enjoy your “day off”!
Fri (9/10) Kids' Seats
12 min - Today let’s tackle the places where our kids sit (LOL!). We all have a spot that collects crumbs, stale Cheerios, and the occasional Lego piece, whether it’s the car seat, the highchair, the exersaucer, or a couch corner. Give that spot some attention today, wiping away anything that doesn’t belong. If your spot has a removable seat cover, toss it in the washer today. Use your vacuum attachments to get down in the cracks and crevices. If you chose to work on the car seat, give it a good once-over to make sure it’s installed properly and that the straps are at the correct setting for your growing child.
Sat (9/11) Registers/ General Cleaning
12 min - Today’s task is to wipe clean your air return vents and registers. Grab a stepstool and dust rag and start cleaning! If you have radiators of baseboard heat, spend your time dusting the elements that tend to get missed on General Cleaning Day.
30 min - Today is also General Cleaning Day. Spend no more than 30 minutes vacuuming, dusting and polishing the main living areas of you home. Don’t get caught in the perfection trap – whatever you can get to today is fine. Something is better than nothing!
Remember, you may not be where you want to be,
but at least you're better off than you were 12 minutes ago!
